Rangers Protect Saint Joseph’s Open Space Preserve

In mid to late January of 2022, two reports came in about a man with a knife attempting to assault visitors to the Saint Joseph’s Open Space Preserve. Rangers coordinated with the Los Gatos Police Department to investigate the reported assaults.

Rangers increased their patrols of the area especially during the dusk and evening hours. Rangers patrol in marked emergency vehicles and these high visibility patrols help to deter crime by showing that there is a consistent law enforcement presence. Rangers also posted surveillance to assist in the investigation.

Luckily it appears that increased patrols has deterred further assaults from occurring. Rangers still patrol the area and are ready to respond to emergencies that threaten public safety.
