  • On September 2, rangers responded to a medical emergency on the Permanente Creek Trail in Rancho San Antonio County Park. A hiker was stung by a wasp and suffered a possible allergic reaction . The hiker was treated by the Santa Clara County Fire Department and was transported to a local hospital by an ambulance.

  • On September 2, a ranger responded to a report of an auto burglary that occurred in parking lot 6 in Rancho San Antonio County Park. Information was gathered from the victim for a report, and the victim also filed a report with the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office.

  • On September 5, rangers responded to a psychiatric emergency that occurred in Skyline Ridge Open Space Preserve. A patient was contacted by rangers and determined to be a danger to themselves. Rangers requested San Mateo County Fire Department and law enforcement response. San Mateo County Sheriff's Office Deputies responded and placed the patient under an involuntary hold per section 5150 of the California Welfare and Institutions Code. The patient was transported to the hospital by ground ambulance.

  • On September 10, a ranger responded to a bicycle accident that occurred in Monte Bello Open Space Preserve. A bicyclist riding down Indian Creek Trail crashed injuring their right ankle. They were treated by the Palo Alto Fire Department and transported to the hospital by ground ambulance.

  • On September 12, rangers responded to a wildland fire that occurred as a result of a solo, non-injury vehicle accident in Coal Creek Open Space Preserve. Rangers responded and provided traffic control and evacuation advisories for adjacent neighbors. Land and Facilities staff responded with a water tender and assisted the fire agencies at the scene. The multi-agency fire department response extinguished the fire. The last fire engines cleared at approximately 8:45 p.m. Rangers checked the area the next day and extinguished hot spots. Approximately 1/2 acre burned.

  • On September 14, a ranger responded to a hiker who suffered anaphylaxis due to a bee sting on the Farm Bypass Trail in Rancho San Antonio Open Space Preserve. The ranger administered oxygen until the Santa Clara County Fire Department arrived. The patient was transported by ground ambulance to a local hospital.

  • On September 15, a ranger patrolling Long Ridge Open Space Preserve discovered the Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue team preparing to search for a missing person whose vehicle was located adjacent to the preserve on Highway 35. The person was found in the preserve deceased by apparent suicide.

  • On September 18, rangers responded to a hiker who passed away in Rancho San Antonio Open Space Preserve on the Stephen E. Abbors Trail. CPR was performed and an AED was used during the call. Santa Clara County Sherrif's Office and Santa Clara County Fire Department responded . It was a medical fatality, no injuries or trauma were found.

  • On September 20, a ranger responded to a call about a visitor who was suspected of having a psychological issue in Rancho San Antonio Open Space Preserve. The visitor was located and assessed by the ranger and the visitor refused additional care.

  • On September 21, a ranger observed an abandoned truck shell on the side of the road inside gate SA32 in Sierra Azul Open Space Preserve. Upon further investigation the ranger discovered pink spray paint on one of the trees and evidence of a campfire in the road. The ranger documented the incident and cleared the area.

  • On September 21, Land & Facilities staff discovered vandalism in Skyline Ridge Open Space Preserve. The electronics in a rental dozer staged in the Equestrian Lot were damaged, likely from an attempted theft. A ranger was notified and took a report, and the rental company was notified of the damage.

  • On September 23, a ranger hosted a wildland fire interpretive table and engaged 16 visitors in Windy Hill Open Space Preserve.

  • On September 24, a ranger observed damage to the entry side gate of the Bear Creek Open Space Preserve Parking Lot. The combo lock on the timer cage was pried open, the arm attachment area damaged, the cover for the manual release pried off, and the reflector for the sensor broken. The ranger notified a supervisor of the incident and documented the damage.

  • On September 26, a ranger responded to a report of a vehicle break in the Northridge Parking Area in Purisima Creek Redwoods Open Space Preserve. The ranger interviewed the owner, investigated the scene, and gathered information for a report.

  • On September 30, rangers and the Santa Clara County Fire Department responded to an injury that occurred on the Upper High Meadow Trail in Rancho San Antonio Open Space Preserve. A ranger assessed the patient, provided an ice pack for an ankle injury, and transported the patient to the intersection of Upper High Meadow and Rogue Valley Trails where Fire personnel were waiting. Fire personnel took over patient care and transported the patient by ground to a local hospital.
